CALL FOR STORYTELLING COMPETITION FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE
Are you a young person in Africa and looking for creative ways to advocate the elimination of FGM in Africa? YouthHubAfrica is looking for young people to use the art of Storytelling to disrupt the culture of silence on FGM in her monthly Storytelling Competition.
The task for the month of June allows for creativity!
Pick an object that represents Female Genital Mutilation to and write a fictional story around the object. The story should allow readers insight into your feelings, observations and or thoughts on FGM.
YouthHubAfrica and the African Youth Commission (AYC) with funding support from the UNICEF-UNFPA Program on the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation in Africa is pleased to announce the Call for Stories for the Month of June 2022.

This is not all,
- Each month, participantsโ stories will be featured on the www.youthendfgm.org website for an Africa-wide audience to read.
Steps to participate:
- Click on the link on the flier to access the fill and submit
- Create an account on https://youthendfgm.org/sign-up/ if you havenโt
- Submit your story focusing on the blog post
- All stories must be submitted by Monday, 13th June 2022.
- The Call is open to young Africans aged 18 โ 35 years
- Acceptable Categories: Text
- Maximum number of words: 400
- Stories should be fictional, creative, and original and depict the reality of FGM.
NOTE:
- All stories must be original works of fiction as they will be subjected to a plagiarism test.
Judging:
The competition will be judged in three stages:
Stage One: Participants will submit their stories on the google form and also on the blogs page on the YouthendFGM website. The stories will go through an initial review and only stories that comply with our guidance will be published on the website.
Stage Two: Once the stories have been approved and published online, participants can begin to share with their network to gain likes and comments to proceed to the next stage. A minimum of 100 likes and 50 comments qualifies one to move to the final stage.
Stage Three: A panel of Judges will review the stories. They will consider Language, Presentation, Creativity and Relevance to the context. - Language (grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation)
- Elements (character, setting, plot, conflict and theme)
- Creativity (make the story become alive)
- Relevance to the issue/content

REMARQUE :
- Toutes les histoires doivent รชtre des ลuvres de fiction originales car elles seront soumises ร un test de plagiat.
Jugement :
Le concours sera jugรฉ en trois รฉtapes :
Premiรจre รฉtape : les participants soumettront leurs histoires sur le formulaire google et รฉgalement sur la page des blogs du site YouthendFGM. Les histoires feront l’objet d’un premier examen et seules les histoires conformes ร nos directives seront publiรฉes sur le site Web.
Deuxiรจme รฉtape : une fois les histoires approuvรฉes et publiรฉes en ligne, les participants peuvent commencer ร les partager avec leur rรฉseau afin d’obtenir des apprรฉciations et des commentaires pour passer ร l’รฉtape suivante. Un minimum de 100 likes et 50 commentaires permet de passer ร l’รฉtape finale.
Troisiรจme รฉtape : Un panel de juges examinera les histoires. Ils prendront en compte la langue, la prรฉsentation, la crรฉativitรฉ et la pertinence par rapport au contexte.
- Langue (grammaire, vocabulaire, orthographe et ponctuation)
- รlรฉments (personnage, cadre, intrigue, conflit et thรจme)
- Crรฉativitรฉ (rendre l’histoire vivante)
- Pertinence par rapport au sujet/contenu
