Overview

The photograph submitted to the competition is part of a project that promotes the values โ€‹โ€‹and principles of freedom, equality and dignity of the human person, especially women, who on November 25th and February 6th, extend their hands next to a created mural. To this end, it celebrates the days established by the UN for the prevention and elimination of violence and genital mutilation against women and girls. Achieving gender equality, freedom and empowerment of women and girls involves the definitive eradication of violence and female genital mutilation, through a joint action of all living forces in society; either by repressive or preventive measures. It is time to say, โ€œzero violence and female genital mutilationโ€.

Short Bio

Gideon Muiambo Americo is a communicative, proactive, innovative, creative, visionary Young leader who is also sensitive to social causes. Also a social activist, civic leader and volunteer in some NGOs in the country. He likes to learn more and acquire new skills to improve on his skills. He is currently a law student,a semi-finalist of the 3rd Edition of the Women’s Empowerment Photography Contest,winner of the #Glocal Climate Challenge Competition promoted by the Swedish embassy in Mozambique,winner of the Photographic Contest Award for the Global Symposium on Salt Affected Soils of 2021.
