This is a short 2D animation formed from various true life experiences of people who have suffered the dangers of FGM. It shows how the act negatively affects the life of young girls and ladies emotionally, physically and psychologically. It also shows that this act has no health benefits and infact often leads to the death of its victims. From the story, the children were taken by their parents which shows that the education of parents greatly affects our progress in the fight against FGM. We have a really long way to go in this fight and need all hands on deck to succeed in putting an end to the terror that is Female Genital Mutilation.
Okon Lydia is a 400 level medical student of the University of Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria.she is a Nigerian creative who is very passionate about using her skills to bring awareness to sensitive topics that are not well spoken about hoping it brings about the much needed change in our society.
