to Global Leaders
Make a 1-2 minute video stating the impact of FGM on the health and wellbeing of women and girls. If you are a survivor of FGM, tell them about your experience. If you know a victim. Honour her memory and share her story. Ensure your video ends with a call for action by global leaders to speak up against the practice. Remind them to match their policies and laws with political will.
STEP 4 (FOUR)
Send a text message, Whatsapp message or letter to elected government officials representing you
Dear Sir/Ma,
My name is [your name] and I am from constituency [your residential location]. I’m writing to urge [name and title of government official] to support efforts to end Female Genital Mutilation in [your community/country]. FGM is a violation of human rights which puts the health and wellbeing of women and girls at great risk. Protect the health of girls and women by implementing FGM ban and policies thus creating an enabling environment to eliminate the practice. Most importantly, it will be very impactful to have you join your voices to that of others to condemn this very harmful culture that has been found to have no medical benefit.
